That Joseph Campbell quote is one of my favourites! Like you, my life has not always taken me down the paths I hoped. I learned that my life was never going to follow the conventional route, and I'm good with that.
First, congratulations on your ordination! That's fantastic and it's so great you've found such a wonderful community.
Next, I read your initial essay. Wow! You put into words exactly how I have felt in the past - probably when I was in my early thirties.
But, like you wrote, things always change and, although I am single, I am much happier now than I was back then. I have faith that as things change again (and again), both you and I will continue to grow and learn and find ever-expanding happiness.
Thank you, Susan! I'm so glad it rang true for you. And glad to hear you're happier now as well. I'm excited for what we find as the road continues. :)
Shūmon --This story and article link back to Kind of an Island paints a picture with the whole jumbo box of 64 Crayolas. Great context. I appreciate your generosity in the Foster Community and feel good about your Jukai.
We break out the jumbo box only for your masterpiece work.... because only the masters can discern all 64 of the colors. We prefer to fly with eagles. Great view. Not a lot of other air traffic.
Congratulations! I did a similar thing in Taiwan, as part of my Chan lineage, my name is 传耐 which is transliterated as 'Chuan Nai', something to do with transformation and perseverance.
Awesome update! Sounds like there have been a lot of evolutions and changes since the last update but it sounds like life is treating you well. While you may have had some incongruency with your journey in the past it sounds like you have found happiness in the present. For that you seem grateful and I think that is awesome. And I think Shūmon is a great name!
Congratulations on your ordination! Good to hear how you are.
Thanks, Asha! Busy but good. :)
yes shumon! so many questions so you are in such need!

Thanks, Per! Love that message, and doubly so as a name!
I think the first part of the name (Chuan) indicates which decade the precepts were taken, giving a hint of 'generation'.
Congratulations, and get well soon!
Thank you, Chris!
